CANYON de CHELLY

We really didn't want to ride the "shake and bake" trucks that the Thunderbird Lodge toured in.  We were told at the desk that they did have jeeps, but this morning we found that to be not true.

Scurried into town and lucked out with a fine guide and a comfortable vehicle.  Kenneth showered us with information and it was a great tour.

HUBBELL TRADING POST and CANYON DE CHELLY

We stopped at Hubbell Trading Post.  I remember visiting as a kid with my mother who liked all things Native American. http://www.nps.gov/hutr/index.htm

We toured the Hubbell house with Ranger Tina who was a great guide.

The Canyon de Chelly campground is very nice, and FREE.  We liked it enough to change our plans, again, and stayed another night after our tour.

Kingman to Winslow

I had a relaxing time at Kit's, looking over maps, checking batteries, and other things that needed doing.  Chris spent the night in Barstow and decided not to come into Kit's place, so....

Chris and I finally met up in Seligman, the little Route 66 town where we ate at the Roadkill Cafe a few months ago.
We have decided not to try to make it to Canyon De Chelly tonight.

RAWHIDE RV ...THIRD TIME THIS YEAR

I spent the night at Camping World in Valencia and then, after stopping at Starbucks, headed for Kit's place in Kingman, Az.  The is the third time this year i have visited Kit and the Doodles.  A more pleasant place to park a RV you couldn't find.

We had hoped that Chris would make it in from Hemet by Sunday evening but it always takes longer to leave home than we anticipate.  Chris had one more fire to put out... we missed her.

LEAVING HOME!

I really like it when I can see Laura and her family on my way out of town.  This was great because I saw not only Laura and kids but also friends that we had hung out with in Istanbul... Leslyn, Sarah, and Yunus.  We played OK...the Turkish version... I think.
